Company: A 370-bed acute care general hospital.

Situation: The hospital was in severe financial distress. Subsequently, the hospital opted to file for bankruptcy and sell its assets.

Focus Scope: A Focus Managing Director was engaged as Patient Care Ombudsman to the hospital to monitor the quality of patient care as the hospital goes its bankruptcy.

Tasks Performed: Focus was named Medical Operations Advisor to support Dan in this role. As Ombudsman, Dan and Focus monitored the quality of patient care being provided and reporting his findings to the Court. Dan is also addressing various cross-disciplinary concerns within Our Lady of Mercy, including staffing, finances, patient identification procedures, available medications, plant operations and insurance policies.

Results: The quality of patient care has been successfully maintained throughout the bankruptcy process.
