Situation: The facility was experiencing a decline in census, an erosion of its payor mix and a loss of $3MM in its most recent fiscal year.
Focus Scope: A Focus Professional was engaged to work directly with the client to implement restructuring changes to bring the hospital back to profitability.
Tasks Performed: Cost controls were implemented and a physician marketing program, a middle management accountability program and a customer service training program were developed. A pediatric orthopedic surgeon, a pediatric endocrinologist, and a number of primary care physicians were recruited.
Results: As a direct result of the Focus Professional's recommendations, annual net revenue projections were exceeded by $6.3MM, or 27%.
