TAMPA, FL, May 9, 2007 – Daniel T. McMurray, a Managing Director of Focus Management Group (“Focus”), has been appointed as Patient Care Ombudsman of Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center (“Our Lady of Mercy”) under an Order entered by the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
As Patient Care Ombudsman, McMurray is responsible for monitoring the quality of patient care as Our Lady of Mercy proceeds through its bankruptcy, representing the interest of the patients of the medical center and reporting to the Court every 60 days regarding the quality of patient care provided.
Focus Management Group, a nationwide business restructuring firm with significant expertise in the healthcare sector, was subsequently retained as Medical Operations Advisor to the Ombudsman, entered May 3, 2007. In this role, Focus Management Group will support McMurray in his role as Ombudsman in the performance of his duties and responsibilities.
Our Lady of Mercy filed for voluntary reorganization under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code on March 8, 2007. Located in Bronx, New York, the medical center is a 369-bed acute care hospital offering a variety of general hospital services, including surgery, cancer care and obstetrical services.
McMurray has wide ranging operational and financial expertise in providing creative solutions for healthcare institutions in turnaround situations. His prior roles included Chief Operating Officer of the Jackson Memorial Medical Center, where he directed and coordinated its strategic reorganization, Administrator of the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and Chief Executive Officer of St. Anthony’s Health Care Center.
