James Hopwood has more than 25 years of experience in a broad base of financial management positions and industries. He has in-depth functional experience in accounting, auditing, banking, capital raising and restructuring, cash flow forecasting, credit extension, financial analysis, human resources, information systems, investor relations, mergers and acquisitions, operational restructuring, real estate management, risk and insurance management, SEC reporting, strategic planning, tax and treasury activities.
His industry experience includes a broad base of healthcare specialties such as acute care hospitals, assisted living facilities, billing/business office and collection operations, pharmaceutical and medical supply distribution, skilled nursing facilities and surgery centers - as well as experience in food processing, general distribution, logistics, manufacturing, real estate portfolios and retailing operations.
Prior to joining Focus, James was the Chief Financial Officer at one of the nation’s largest publicly traded distribution companies. He was responsible for strategic acquisitions and divestitures of operations with revenues in excess of $1.1 billion He was instrumental in developing and implementing short-range and long-range business plans, acquisition strategies and financing structures. Over the course of his career, James has been involved in numerous restructuring and turnaround assignments both as a consultant and as a company executive.
Early in his career, James spent three years in the Chicago office of Goldman Sachs & Co. The University of Chicago awarded James an MBA with honors in Finance. James also earned his Bachelor of Business with honors in Finance from Western Illinois University.
